Kikos Fonseca Porsche 934-935 – 9306700161 R

This is not a factory tub car, it was a purpose built tube frame car that was built up for Luis Mendez that ran it in IMSA in the early 80’s then converted with a 962 engine after Kikos Fonseca bough it then later with the 935 body and raced in SA, then sold back into the USA, maybe you know the name Dennis Aase, he drove the car a couple of times up at PIR for car owner Dave Hall. Dennis told me it was the best 935 he had driven.

161 does have FIA papers which is good if I choose to take the car overseas. This car carries serial number 9306700161 although it is not the original Factory 934 that kikos also owned at the same time.

This car qualified 3rd at Rennsport 2015 even running only .8 bar of boost (I let my nephew Jerome Rodela) drive it under the conditions we do not hurt it so I kept the boost down. If I turned it up to 1.2-.1.5 like some of the guys are running it would be at the front. Ironically what gave us trouble all weekend and eventually took us out was the Factory original bearing carrier on the flat fan housing that cracked. Rennsport 2011 it led the race and ended up finishing 2nd. Anyway this thing is very fast and works, it could work even better but little time has been spent on really sorting and tuning the chassis, (springs are too soft). So having said all this, this car is welcome at the historic and vintage events as its been there a few times before, someone can be running at the front in the 935 races for 1/4 of the cost. My old Interscope 79 935 recently sold for 2.4 M and a number of other 935’s in the 2 M range.

I was told by Dennis Aase my car was built by a guy that had built some cars for Rusty Wallace and Bill Elliot in Atlanta, I was never able to confirm the name of the shop that did the build.

The engine is a 3.2 twin plug with Bosch Mechanical 935 injection and stacks using a 962 horseshoe, of course flat fan. The engine has about 8-9 hrs on it with new P&C’s and rods and of course fresh heads at the time, the chassis after the restoration has maybe 12-13 hrs on it. New fuel cell, Ti axles, 935 front oil cooler, all new plumbing and wiring- a short bell housing gearbox.
